Question:
Does anyone else experience a nasty
In the first week postop....no fevers or complications that I can tell but awful "Metallic" taste with everything liquid I taste so far..... — Katherine G. (posted on February 29, 2004)

I noticed that some of the metallic taste was from keytones, and drinking
more water helps that. Also, if you are taking a chewable vitamin with
iron it can do that as well. My surgeon started us on Flinstones Complete
chewables, and the iron in the chewable tasted awful, I soon moved on to a
regular non-chewable multiviamin and it helped with the metallic taste in
my mouth tremendously.

Does water feel....... abrasive? Does it hurt to touch yourself in the
pouch area (aside from incision)? Any back pain?

I hope this isn't too much information, but when I was a new post-op, I had
the same metalic taste in my mouth too. Then about 4 or 5 days after
surgery I sneezed and I blew out a rather large blood clot (old) that was
stuck somewhere from the NG tube that they use for the first 24 or so
hours. The taste went away after that. Good luck!
