Question:
Upper Abdominal Pain for 6 months
I'm 3 years post op, and about 6 months ago I started having Stomach pain. It's above my bellybutton and it's a dull pain that never goes away. I've had an endoscopy, a catscan, and nothing found.Exhausted all antacid treatments. Hooked on pain pills, it's the only thing that makes me feel better. gall bladder removed before bypass. Anyone know about malnutrition? i'm really tired of being sick all the time. If anyone knows anything please write. — Abby R. (posted on January 26, 2004)

I am just guessing here but since you have had all those tests done &
they find nothing the cause of your pain could just be plain old scar
tissue.. All by itself it can be painful & hard to detect unless it is
obstructing something which I am guessing is not the case. When all else
fails try talking to a pain mgmt. specialist & as a last resport talk
to a plastic surgeon.. I am curious why you asked about malnutrition ?? Are
you not eating anything ?? That too is a problem.. I really hate to give
advice when I do not know the whole story.. Anyway e-mail me if you feel
the need & I wish you the best of luck. Anne

Did they check for a bowel obstruction? Sometimes adhesions can cause
partial blockage of the bowel late term post-op.

Any chance they haven't checked you thoroughly for a hernia? It could be
that...
That's the only thing I can come up with. Good luck to you.
