Question:
What is a realistic goal weight for shorties 5' and Under?????
I see all these height and weight charts that say I should weigh 90-110lb, I'm 4' 10", 42 years old, med to large frame. Anyone else close to me what did you set your goal at, or is the 110 realistic???? Thanks, Robin W — Robin W. (posted on January 22, 2004)

Hi! I'm 5'3" and the latest chart I looked at said I should weigh
116. I'm at 130 right now and I really think I need to lose some more. I
have a big belly that I would love to lose, but that may take a TT to lose.
LOL! But seriously, when you get to a weight that you feel good at, I
think that's the correct weight for you. Best of luck to you!

I'm 4'11" so I know how you feel. For me I don't find 95-110 lbs
realistic cause I would look sick so I have decided to lost until I feel
comfortable. I know I'm only 3 months post-op but I don't think I would
like to be 95 lbs with my frame (med/large). For today I just want to keep
losing. Good Luck on your journey. Hugs!!!!!!

I am 5'0 and thrilled to be 135. Is it overweight by the
"charts"? yes, but I maintain the charts were written by someone
smoking crack. at a size 12 I look and feel great. I am not bone thin but
that was never my goal. My doc (bless him) never said you have to weight
XXX pounds. He said, "lets see where your body settles in at its
comfortable weight. " At the time I thought it was a stupid answer
but now I understand perfectly what he meant. I didn't set my self up for
an unrealistic goal. My body likes this weight and I can eat well and not
feel deprived. I may lose a little more just because every so often I drop
1 or 2 ounds with out really trying.

Robin, rather than set a goal weight, how about setting a goal size? I was
a size 10 when I got married and that was my goal from WLS. I met that
goal, although it is 15 more pounds than my surgeon suggested per the
weight charts. If I had listened to him, I'd be between a size 6-8 and
eating much less calories a day to maintain a 6 instead of the size 10 I
decided to stop at. I like to eat too much!

I'm 5 foot and 1/4 inch tall. I started at 252 and now weigh 122. I would
like to stop at about 120. I will be 50 in a few days and at this age the
thinner you get the more baggy you get! I'm already 8 lbs. below my goal
and still loosing.

My dr asked me what I wanted my goal to be. I'm 5'4", 56 years old.
I think I'll feel good at 150-160. He said the charts say around 130-135
but thinks 20-30% over "goal" should be attainable and and
maintainable. I just want to feel good and stay healthy. March 2003

I'm 5'2 and I weigh 125. I wear a size 4. I've got down to 121 and I
actually could look at myself and see that I didn't look healthy. I think
I'm at an average weight and my doctor always tells me how tiny I am and
how good I look, so I'll take his word on it!! I think everyone is
different and you can weigh more if you've carried around a lot of weight
for years. Your bones with be heavier and when you lose weight it makes
you look thinner then your actual weight.

I am 4'11", 35 years old and med framed. My surgeon set my goal at 132
lbs and I set my personal goal at 120 lbs. Right now I am 129 lbs and I am
still a little flabby. I can see myself losing another 9-15 lbs but not
anymore then that! I cant imagine losing 19-39lbs to get down to 90-110
lbs. I would be a friggin skeleton!

I am 5'0" tall (on a good day) and I have gone from 285 to 145 and I
went from a size 26/28 top and 24 bottoms to a size 6 pants and anywhere
from a small to large top. I have a small to med. build and I would like
to lose another 19-29 lbs...I would LOVE to be 113. I thnk that it would
look ok on me...but I am also really paranoid that I am going to gain my
weight back and that I'm gonna be fat again...
