Question:
How long after surgery will I have stomach muscle pains?

Remember when you were a few weeks post op from open surgery and your muscles started growing back. Remember that pain? Well I am 9 months postop and those pains have returned. I am hoping the pain is just from intense exercise or from coughing too much since I am getting over the flu. Does anyone know of anything else that may cause this? I had my gallbladder removed during surgery. I have no fever or trouble holding down food.    — Mercy P. (posted on January 6, 2004)

I am now almost 16mos post-op and I still occassionally get the muscle pains. I find if I can put a heating pad on for a few minutes they go away. As you strengthen the muscles the frequency should decrease. As always, call you dr. if you feel any uneasiness about it.
