Question:
Atkins diet and Post Op Diet
Has anyone noticed that the diet used for post op is basically the same as the Atkins diet; High Protein, Low Carb. I did atkins twice and have lost 35lbs and the second time 50lbs. I Have gained much but not all of that back. I really think this surgery is a great tool to keep you on track. Anyways, just some insight. — Richard L. (posted on December 27, 2003)

combination, it"s a win, win!!!! good luck!! happy loosing!!!

So true! I'm almost 4 years out and have maintained at my lowest with
Atkin's. I weigh myself daily and if I go up 3-5 pounds I go on strict
Atkin's for a week and it comes back down. The difference now vs pre wls,
is I have a "tool" to keep me on the Atkin's.

I think of WLS as atkins plus! Low volume of food combined with high
protein by necessity. I never thought friends eating entire packages of
bacon, was a good idea. See my proifile WLS saved my life!

I have found that I cannot tolerate carbohydrates since WLS - so the Atkins
path simply keeps me from getting sick ;) Whatever works!
