Question:
How long was it before you were able to eat popcorn again?

Hmmmm, I don't really remember when I started eating it again. It wasn't
too quickly tho. I hated popcorn pre-op and love it now. I wouldn't
introduce it too quickly, all those little pieces are bound to cause
irritation.

Jackie,
I started eating popcorn at @90 days out. The wonderful crunch was such a
treat! LOL And it's amazing how much popcorn I can eat ~ It's like it just
disentegrates when I eat it. I've had no problems whatsoever with it. I
love it!

Jackie: I started eating popcorn again at around 2 months post-op. A cup
or two twice a week sure did wonders for keeping me regular! It was easy
to eat & keep down. I have no problems with it whatsoever. I do try
to limit it to once a week now.

I had popcorn before 2 weeks out. I went to the movie and just had a couple
of peices. It went well and I have had it here and there since then.

i didn't have popcorn until about 4-5 months out. i was afraid to eat it,
but now it's fine. just be careful of the salt because that, mixed with the
carbs, can cause dumping. enjoy!

Both my surgeon and two dietitians have strongly suggested that I give up
popcorn forever. The hulls are indigestable and can block the stoma. I
will admit that I haven't been completely compliant, and have had a cup or
two of popcorn a few times. My advice is, if you're going to eat it, to
keep the portions very small. It does melt down to nothing, so you can eat
a lot of it, which means more hulls coagulating and possibly blocking the
stoma.

15 months out now and have eaten popcorn semi-regularly since about 3 or 4
weeks out. One of my 'tricks' for keeping my bowels regular. And the salt
is wonderful :>) I have low-blood pressure now, so I crave salt.

I have eaten buttered popcorn (microwave} daily since 1 1/2 months post op.
Daily. It keeps me regular and causes no adverse effect on my body
whatsoever. I am regular every day...it seems to lube the bowels and flush
me out so to speak. Listen to your Dr., do what he says...and if its okay
just make it moist and chew it down...it will be fine. Good luck!!! -63 lbs
in 3 1/2 months.
