Question:
Noticed when constipated cant eat much
Was curious if other post-ops have noticed that when they are constipated they cant eat much that day nothing seems to go down right, but once the constipation is relieved you can again eat more/better tolerated ? 14 mos postop - 128lbs. — niteshadow181 (posted on October 12, 2003)

I am almost 10 weeks postop(at the soft food stage as per surgeon) and what
you describe is exactly the way it is for me. It would get to the point I
would vomit just because I was constipated. I now use colace as a stool
softener and it works well. I have to take it everyday. My doc advised
against fiber type laxative because it can clog me up even worse at only 10
weeks out. When I can add more whole fruits and grains to my diet, I will
be able to slow down on using the colace. Increasing water intake really
does help too.

Yes I have noticed this too. I thought that it must be my imagination.
Thanks for bringing it up. Why do you think this is? Hmmm...second
thought, maybe I dont want to know. LOL Becky---10/03/01

early out I would make comments to hubby that food wasn't sitting well and
it was HE who connected it to my needing to take a looong sit :>) Now
I recognize it for what it is - but yes, true for me as well. Interesting.
Glad I'm not the only one. THat's why I love this place - we can find out
we're 'normal' lol
