I was wondering what kind of blood work do you have done before the surgery

The only blood work I had to have done was at the pre-admit at the hosptal.
It is ordered by the anesthesiologist and is to determine your general
health before surgery. I'm not sure what all they check beside hemoglobin.
Different doctors require different tests p re-op. I was in good health
before my surgery and just had to have a check out by a pulmonologist
before surgery - no other testing.

The State of MD has specific requirements prior to operations. CBC with dif
(Complete blood count +). I also had other tests for thyroid (tsh), ABG
Arterial Blood Gas -it depends on the requirements of the State and Dr
involved. They want to make sure that everything is ok or that you are
healthy enough for surgery. They may look for anemia, infections etc.

I had those same ones listed below... they took about 5 little vials of
blood, then the blood gas deal was in my wrist, and it made quite a mess...

We had the same set done pre-op as post, for a baseline & to correct
any danger zones ahead of time. I can send you the list, if you'd like.
The object is to "meet or beat" those levels. The good ones, of
course. lol
