Question:
Not a question, just a good article about the future of the food pyramid
Go to http://www.cnn.com/2003/HEALTH/diet.fitness/10/01/food.pyramid.reut/index.html for an article about the never-ending debate on whether the food pyramid should be revised and how it might be revised. — sweetmana (posted on October 2, 2003)

I always knew that pyramid was wrong... way to many carbs. It is'tn so much
that fat as it is the carbs that ruin us. I did weight watchers many times.
I could'nt do anything with it as it had to many carbs and set me into
eating binges. Heck, we use carbs (grains) to fatten up animals! We are
doing the same to ourselves with that foolishness.

I was watching the food channel several months back and they were making
pasta. At the end of each segment they would have a 'pasta fact'. The
fact that really got me thinking was that pasta was created, then used, as
a filler to make desserts and main dishes go further. Just think...now we
skip the main course and just eat the filler....sad isn't it!

I also think it's sad that the food pyramid is so engrained in our brains
from the time we are in Kindergarten (where we supposedly learn everything
we need to know). I am continually having to explain to my kids that even
though this is what the 'proverbial they' say about food choices that I/we
know that these choices aren't good for our bodies and that we need to
always choose vegetables, meats and fruits over pastas, rices, breads and
cereals. Hopefully we will see some changes in this flawed way of thinking
before our whole country ends up obese.
