Question:
Have any of you lost TOO much weight?

I read one time on the message board that one individual lost too much weight and had to have the surgery reversed.    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on August 2, 2003)

I used to worry about that when I was pre-op. Now I see that its just the oposite for most, you'd like to lose more. I think a very very small percentage lose too much weight. Even if I was in that small %, I would never reverse this surgery! :)

I have gone below 100 pounds and people say I am too small. I have started to break some of the rules. I don't care if I gain any weight but I don't want to lose any more. 210 to 97 pounds on a 5'1" small frame.Surgery date 1-23-02 -113lbs

I struggle everyday to keep weight on. Just these past few days I havent eaten as often or as much as i should and have lost 10lbs. This kind of situation doesnt happen often and really isnt that big of a deal. I just have to eat more often than most.....darn.

I am 5 ft 5. I am 17 months out and have lost 120#. I weigh 135. I am 50. I have lost a few pounds below goal and I am somewhat worried about losing anymore and I am looking "wrinkle-y". I bought jeans in size 6 yesterday. If I go any lower I will have to look in specialty stores. Yes, it is a concern and who would have ever thought it would be? Not me!

I do recall a member who had loads of problems with her surgery (being underweight was just one of them) who was seeking a revision. I don't know if she ever had it. If you look at Yahoo's OSSG (obesity surgery support group) listings, you will probably find one for people seeking revisions, or people who've had specific problems with the surgery (including being underweight). The surgery is not without risks.<P>I wound up almost twenty pounds below than my original goal (I'm 45 years old, 5'7 1/2" and weigh 128 pounds now; my original goal was 147 pounds). I looked better 12-15 pounds ago. I eat 2000 calories a day and am trying not to lose any more weight -- I look gaunt in the face now and have no butt at the moment, either. ;-) However, I'm told the gaunt-ness will likely go away in time, and that some eventually experience a "butt-be-back" syndrome in which well, it be back one of these days. ;-) I'll wait and see. I certainly wouldn't reverse my surgery over this, since I was fortunate enough not to have any complications, my labs are good, I feel healthy (considering), and my exercise program is good.
