Question:
I am weeks post-op and having persistent vomiting since going to soft foods. Help!
I can't predict what soft foods will make me throw up and have gone back to pureed. How much throwing up is normal in the second month or is it? Cannot tolerate vitamins and have constant gas. Please advise what else I can do. Thanks in advance — Elizabeth B. (posted on July 28, 2003)

If the problem keeps up you might have a stricture so call your surgeon as
it is very easy to get dehydrated. When you are a few weeks out a stricture
is a common complication.I'm 7 weeks out and have had 3 so far.My symptoms
were vomiting, food feeling stuck and I was constantly burping.A stricture
is an easy fix.You have an outpatient endoscopy...they dilate the narrowing
and you are sedated so you don't feel it.

Vomiting with WLS is NEVER NORMAL...especially persistent vomiting. Time
to call the doctor. You want to avoid vomiting as it can cause a staple
line disruption...which will basically ruin your surgery. Hugs, Joy
