Is it possible for your insurance company to authorize a gastric bypass after just one week? I called my insurance company this week the gentleman I talk to said it looks like they are going to approve my surgery. Can he tell me that after a few days of being in their system? Sure - my papers were submitted on a Tuesday, and I received approval the very next Monday -- Good luck!

I got my approval the same day they submitted it to the medical director.

My approval was given in just minutes... the case was received this morning, looked at when I called at 3pm, and by about 3:05 I got a call saying I was approved!!! So, yes, it can happen quickly!!!!! Congrats and best of luck!

Hi Derith, They submitted my papers to the ins co. on Nov 20th. 2002, and I got approved on Nov 26th 2002, so yes it can happen that quickly! Just be glad that it does cuz some people have to wait a few mths. to even a year for some ins. co's to approve them! Good Luck to you!
