I hope that someone out there can help me! I am looking for a web site that carries a knee brace/ knee support for us plus size people! My good knee is going out and I need to support it it in some way before it totally goes out! I was hopeing to get my surgery done sooner so that this wouldn't happen, but no luck. If anyone has a source please let me know. Thank you in advance! :) Sue — sue S. (posted on June 10, 2003)

Hi Sue...check Footsmart at http://www.footsmart.com Their catalog has a
lot of knee stuff, but I'm not sure about the sizes.

Sue, can you see a doctor and get an order for a brace? You might need to
see and orthopedic doctor. Your insurance would likely pay for at least
part of the brace, and they can be expensive. You most likely have someone
in your insurance network that can make a brace for you or fit you with a
brace that will hold up and do what you need it to do. Ordering a generic
brace may be easy, but it may not work, either.

Hi, I have had to wear braces on both knees for 3 years. As a morbidly
obese person I could not find one that fit because they do not make them in
our size for general sale. Large size braces are special order. Most braces
are covered by insurance. My orthopedist wrote my perscription, I was
fitted by a medical equipment company and voila! - they fit correctly,
don't slip and don't strangle my knees. My last brace is less than 9 mos
old. I have had WLS surgery and I am losing weight so they will replace the
knee brace for a smaller size free, as many times as I need it for up to
one year. Best of luck,
