Question:
Post-op, do you seem to be dropping things more often?

Since my surgery on May 19th, I have continued to drop everything, all the time! This is from day 1 in the hospital to now. I was never a clumsy or careless person before, and rarely dropped things? What the heck has happened to me....????    — heather S. (posted on June 4, 2003)

OMG....I cannot believe you posted this. I had surgery on April 21 and jus yesterday I said that I could not hold on to anything since surgery. I drop everything. I was never clumsy either....weird...I wonder why?

It's true. I remember being a complete klutz for awhile after surgery. I'm close to a year out now and I think it was 6-8 weeks 'til I went back to my normal klutzy ways. I don't know why. I guess maybe it has something to do with anestethia (damn could never spell that).

might sound silly but this can be related to perhaps your/our diet. Kinda like the light headedness you might get from lack of nutrition.

Both Scott and Ted are right. It could be a combo of reaction to surgical chemistry and anathesia... (I can't spell it either! lol). It can also be related to hormone change... in men or women! Tell your pcp and surgeon, but don't fret yet. If it gets worse as time goes on and your docs don't know what it could be, THEN worry. But... give yourself some time right now to heal. Make sure you get enough food and protien. Stay away from sugar... it can really cause this. I had massive shakes and dropsy... but at 15 months out, it is all gone, along with 210lbs! :~)

I'd say check with your doctor....when this happened to me I found out that my blood sugar was dropping dangerously low (40).
