Question:
How much do we drink and how often?
The MetRx powder says to mix with 16oz of water or skim milk. Are we to drink the whole 16 oz? How much are we to drink and how often? — doodlebug (posted on June 3, 2003)

I guess that depends on how far out you are. If you're not a real new
post-op, drinking 16oz at once (over a 20-30 minute period) is ok. And how
often depends on how much protein you need. I drink a protein drink once a
day to augment what I get from food. If you're a new post-op, I'd drink
more since you can eat less. Hope this makes sense.

You can mix any protein powder to taste; if you can handle it (or even
prefer it) with less water, then use less. Or, make smaller drinks, more
often, with less powder (and water). Also -- try hard NOT to get into the
habit of mixing your protein drink with skim milk. Eight ounches of milk
would 12 grams of sugar to your protein shake (and with 16 ounces -- you're
really loading it up with sugar), which kinda defeats the purpose of a
protein shake for WLS'ers. :~)

If 16 oz is too much, you can cut it in half. I have days where I can
drink a whole 16 oz and other days I simply can't.

Is it the protein powder or the MRP?
