Question:
How much of either of these bars can we eat at a time?

How much of a bar can be eaten at at time and how many times a day/week? I'm clueless.    — doodlebug (posted on June 3, 2003)

How far post-op are you? The clue is to eat til you are full. I can actually eat a whole on if I'm really hungry but I limit myself to half because of the calories. If you are a fairly new post-op, I would imagine that you couldn't eat but half if that much. I am 18 months out and could easily eat a whole one in 20 minutes.

I tried a detour bar once, at about 4 weeks post-op. I ate 1/2 one day and 1/2 the next. They are huge! I am glad I didn't like it because I would have wanted one every day. I try to get my protein in from real food. The bars tend to be high in fat and calories, too. JMHO.

I am 20 days out from Ryn Lap, in the last week I tried eating a u turn bar! It took me 3 days a couple days apart to get down all of one bar! 2/3 of a bar for the entire week is all I could handle! It was good! Finally when I threw it away I had one third of the bar left! I put it in a freezer bag and just got it out when I wanted some! Good Luck!

I eat one U-Turn bar everyday for breakfast. I eat it for the protein, and also for the taste. I am 6 months post op, and some days I can eat a whole bar, and other days, I eat only 2/3 of a bar. I find if I keep my calorie count down too low, my weight loss actually slows down. I enjoy this bar and I look forward to it each morning. This way, I get my day started with something good for me. I hate dislike breakfast, but I know I need to eat something, and this works for me! Good Luck to you! 11/20/03 295/196/140 -99lbs!!

They've resized these bars, but both sizes are still in the stores. The bigger/older ones are 2.8 oz., 300 or 310 calories. The new ones are 1.4 oz., 160 calories. At a year out I can (unfortunately) scarf down a whole big one with no trouble, but probably shouldn't be. They're good, but pretty high in calories and I think they also give me gas. :(
