Question:
Anyone out there end up NOT have an apron when they were convinced they would?
I'd just like to know if there are any folks out there who were pleasantly surprised to find that their pre-op or post-op panni/apron shrunk to an "acceptable" size or went away altogether? I guess I'm sort of speaking to those whose weight has been off for more than a year. Any information would be great! Thanks! — sweetmana (posted on May 18, 2003)

I am 3 yrs post op and do not have an apron. I really thought I would since
most of my adult life I never saw my pubic hair!! At about a year post op I
saw a plastic surgeon who told me to wait another year because he thought I
would shrink more and I did. I'm sure this has happened to more people
than just me. I don't exercise other than walk probably if I did my stomach
would be even flatter but what the heck, I figure my clothes cover any
bulges I have and at 53 I can live with it.

I do not have any apron to speak of either I am 8 months out & down 105
lbs. Yes, there is a small bulge but I never had a flat tummy even in the
skinny days. So my guess is somtimes they do shrink down.. so even if you
are considering plastic surgery you should still wait awhile..

I'm almost 9 1/2 months post-op and am down 142 pounds. I weighed 306 at
my heaviest and am now 164. I don't have an apron at all. I have some
skin, but nothing that has to be lifted to be washed under. My surgeon is
surprised, but said that if I had a tummy tuck, there would only be about 3
pounds of skin to remove. So, not really worth it. I have decided that
before I do any kind of plastic surgery (mainly a boob job), I am going to
wait 5 years. I may never need anything other than a boob job. :~)
