Question:
Indentation in leg
I have a weird question which I've asked before, but have not gotten a lot of responses. Has anyone experienced "indentations" or dents in any of their body parts as they lost weight? 2 years ago when I lost 30 pounds, I had this very huge indentation in the middle of my right leg. It's hard to describe, but it's as if someone sucked fat out of one portion of my thigh in a horizontal line. Almost like (i know this will sound gross, but i can't describe it more visually than this) someone had taken a staple gun and stapled this section of my skin directly to the bone, and the remaining fat billowed out on either side of the indentation. It was so pronounced it could be seen through my pants, and I was really embarrassed by it. I'm afraid this will happen again after the surgery as I begin to lose weight because a very slight indentation remains there were the fat seems to have filled the valley in. Has anyone else experienced this? — sweetmana (posted on May 18, 2003)

Two things come to mind: 1)That losing weight is making cellulite more
pronounced, giving you that dimply look. OR...2)You may actually be
building up your quadriceps, which is going to totally change the shape of
your legs.

These are strictly my "educated guesses" & personal
experiences:
A. Cellulite
B. Fatty Cists (whatever that may be, I heard about it a while back)
c. Check with your surgeon and/or PCP if you are concerned.
I lost 60+ pounds about 1 1/2 years ago and in any "calcified fatty
areas" (you know, the fat that seems amply packed and harder in some
areas, like your tush, then like in your arms...)were "melted"
away the more I incorporated weight training into my exercise routine.
Trust me, work those areas with weights. As you develop and tone muscle,
the muscle definition will become more visiable. KNOCK THAT OUT WITH WEIGHT
TRAINING.
BUT....The last thing you need is some sort of hazardeous tissue build up,
have it looked at ASAP. I am not a physcian so ask you MD. Better safe than
sorry. God Bless!

I think I know what you are talking about. I have a dent along my outer
left thigh that feels like a deep fingnail impression that won't go away.
As I run my fingers over it I can feel it and it's a pretty sharp
indentation. It feels like a "Support" vein died and was
removed. I don't have any better way of discribing it but that something
was removed and the skin has dipped down. Luckily mine are pretty small
and not noticible unless you run your hand along the area and press a bit.
I've had this dimple like thing for about 5 years or so. My doctor wasn't
concerned and didn't have an answer for it. If you find out email me about
these dimple/dent things [email protected].

I had an indentation in my right leg and it was due to the edema in my
legs. I wore compression shoes on my legs while I was in the hospital for
my wls and the spot disappeared.I would have your legs looked at. Edema is
serious. Catch it before it gets out of control. At least have it ruled out.
