Question:
Has anyone ever tried Le Patch to help with their loss?

Just a question. I was wondering if this would help during the slow loosing times? It really discourages me when I dont loose for weeks at a time. Any input would be great!! Thanks so much!! — Des812 (posted on May 8, 2003)

I have not tried it, so maybe I am off base saying this, but I am always very skeptical of those weight loss products. Unless the FDA approves it, be wary. Either they don't work at all or they may contain harmful ingredients. JMHO

According to your profile, you are a little over four months out, and have gone from 312 lbs. to 249 lbs. during that time (my math skills are weak but that looks like a loss of 62 pounds in roughly four months).
I know that once we decide to have surgery, we want the weight GONE, already. I understand that feeling. But if you want to *keep* the weight off, which should be our real goal. Since just about all of us had to demonstrate we had failed diets in our past in order to get insurance coverage, losing wasn't the issue for most of us -- re-gaining was. If you start focusing on how to lose faster, ever faster, IMHO, you lose sight of what it will take to keep it off. Turning to things like diet pills, diet patches (a new one on me), quickie weight loss schemes, unrealistic and arbitrary short-term weight loss goals, all undercut the idea of re-learning eating habits, and establishing exercise habits, that will help us make the best possible use of our surgery and our new lifestyles.
Bottom line: Think long and hard before you decide to put your body through the abuse of diet patches or pills after WLS, especially when you're still a relatively new post-op. Every one of those get-thin-quick schemes fails once you quit using it. Why mess up your chance to learn what you really need to do to lose and keep the weight off.

Hi Desiree, Why would you even think of that? I had this surgery so that I would never have to live like a fat person again. I never want to be on a diet or take diet pills again. You have been very successful so far and you will get down to a confortable weight for your body. Be patient. I'm a year out and lost 94 lbs and I'm still losing and you will still lose for quite awhile. So follow the rules and be patient and be happy that you have a chance to be normal. Forget those diet things and learn how to eat and live like thinner people. My prayers are with you. God Bless, Janet

Thank you for your answers. It was just a thought that went through my mind. I saw them on the internet and was just wondering about them. Like others say, it takes a while for your brain to catch up. My problem is I compare myself to others and that needs to stop. I guess I just dont see it yet. Thank you all for getting that thought out of my mind!!!
