Question:
Lost 42% excess body weight in 3 months, is that good?
I am 5'6" I started at 318. DR. wants 75% gone (130lbs) in 18 to 24 months to be successful. Only lost 55 lbs in 3 months but is equal to 42% of excess weight. Is that still good? I just don't feel like it is coming off very well. Any imput would be welcome & helpful. — Paula G. (posted on April 24, 2003)

Drop the word "only" from your vocabulary. Not everyone can lose
100 pounds in just a few months, yet everyone thinks that if they don't
they are not doing good, or have somehow failed. If you compare yourself
to others you will drive yourself nuts. We ALL lose at different
rates-have some patience, stick to the pouch rules-protein first, no
drinking with or right after meals, lo carb and sugars, tons of water and
exercise and it will come off.

You are right on track. Everybody loses differently over the first six
months but seem to get to the same point at roughly the same time. I was
exactly where you are now. After two weeks I calculated my weight monthly
and found that I was averaging 10% of my excess each month. I bet you are
the same. Keep focused on good habits and the rest will take care of
itself.
