Question:
What do you think?
I am thinking (lol) that after the op it would be good to have a project to keep me really worked up and going.. during thoes yucky times. So I was thinking of getting a VW Van. What do you think? I thought maybe about 3 or 4 weeks post-op I would be able to start working on it..... BTW anyone out there got one they want to sell cheap or know of a cheap way to get one? I just think that since I cant smoke, cant eat, not suppose to veg on tv or puter.. that a project car would work???? Thanks Brandi 04/24/03 — bleever (posted on April 12, 2003)

I think that is an interesting idea, look in your local free Pennysaver
(maybe it is called something else where you are.) I took up
crocheting...and then bought a Harley Davidson, took the safety class,
practiced in parking lots, got licensed and joined the local HOG
chapter..that has kept me really busy and meeting new and supportive
people. And riding is the biggest high I have ever had! So there is another
idea for your hat. You will do great, your attitude sounds
excellent...also, keeping a journal is a great way to work through
"yucky" times.

Brandi, that's a great idea. I'm constantly thinking of new things to do
and hobbies to start. And you mentioned not vegging at the TV or computer.
That's true as well, I notice the more I sit a long time, the more I want
to just grab something to eat! So I started doing scrapbooking. And I got
all my friends into it, too! So it's a fun thing to do with pictures and
takes up alot of time. Oh...I don't have any VW's but I'm sure you'll find
one. Great idea!

If you are looking for a fun and time consuming project, check out building
your own teardrop trailer! These are so cute. I really want to build one
and as soon as I can rake up the money for the frame, I plan on building
one myself. You can do a search for treadrop trailers and get all kinds of
pics and sites that sell the plans etc.

I used to be a Bugaholic, which included being a Busaholic. I still have
contacts in that world. Do you know what year bracket? Which model? If
so, email me pvtly & I'll shoot you in the direction of the type you
want.

Oh boy! Yes, it would work. We have 6 beetles, all different years, all in
different stages of completeness. (Don't think they will ever get finished
- LOL). We have 2 daily drivers and now are working on a 60 vert. We have
been doing this for about 5 years. I'm only 7 mos post op but it has been
much more fun since WLS. I can get down on the floor and really get into
working on the car. We went to a show with one of our cars last week and
had such a good time. Sounds like a good idea to me. Just look around,
you will find one. It's amazing to see how many people have VW's stuck in
their barns and garages. Good luck. email me if I can help!

Brandi, since my wls I have stared sewing again. I go to the mall, see
what I like. Then go to fabric store (when they have sales) ad buy
patterns and material. Since my size keeps changing I just make new ones
or alter the older one I really like. I am als sewing for my granddaughter
and friends. It is really fun to see faces light up.
