Question:
I am 10months post op and have lost 120 lbs and have not had much trouble after
surgey am recently having to eat tums like crazy and have taken some zantac to relieve stomach pains- feels like my stomach is eating itself! (only way to describe) this comes and goes and is not consistant to any food types or when I eat. I do not eat spicy foods or anything out of the norm that would change this? any ideas or suggestions would help! — Sarah A. (posted on March 29, 2003)

Sarah, could it be an ulcer maybe? Does it feel better when you eat?
Certain types of ulcers feel painful when you have an empty stomach, so it
feels better if there is a liquid or food in it. I would check with the
doctor just to be sure. Feel better!

Any nausea? How does water taste? What you're describing sounds like my
ulcers pre-op. "stomach eating itself". Are you transected? Any
chance of fistual that is allowing stomach acid back into the pouch?

That is weird because I am nearly 11 months post and I have lost 125 pounds
and I am going through the same exact thing...I have to carry tums in my
purse also pepto bismo works really well, but I don't know what is causing
this...if you ever find out please let me know.
