Question:
Sex question- Am I the only one?
I never had this issue before. I am 2 months post-op & down 50 lbs. When my husband & I have sex now it hurts. Is it related to weight lose? I just started having this problem since the last month. Any insight would be great. — Paula G. (posted on March 28, 2003)

What exactly hurts? Are you just too dry? I don't know what causes that
(maybe dehydration?) but there's products to take care of that. Or is it
that you just have less padding now and body parts are getting a little
roughed up? You could try switching positions.

I am glad I am not the only one. I hurt the day after. It is like my
insides were banged up. No pun intended :) Does anyone else hurt inside
their abdomen after sex?

This question has been addressed many times before, but we can talk about
it again. You are losing "padding" and this is allowing your
partner to achieve deeper penetration. Both of you will have to try
different positions/techniques designed to reduce the amount of penetration
(or just tell him to take it a little bit easier on you). I had a similar
problem when I lost the 157 pounds (so far) since my surgery and will face
it again after my wife recovers from her Lap RNY on 5/6...JR

I also had the same problem. It felt as if I had "golfballs"
sitting down low. I went to my gynecologist and he said that it was my
Polycystic Ovarian Disease. I had this PCOS under control pre-op with
birth control pills, and had stopped taking them due to blood clot
possibility with my lap rny. He just put me back on birth control pills
and ever since I have been just fine.

john....i don't mean to sound rude, but there is no possible way that you
can know what we are feeling...i am not hurting because there is a loss of
padding...i am hurting inside...it is like my organs have been
attacked....unless you are a woman and have experienced it, you would have
no way of knowing

Kim...that *was* a rude remark. I speak from the experience of my wife
talking to me about the deeper penetration that I have been achieving since
my weight loss. You know, the first respondent made the same remark that
I did about the loss of padding and I noticed that you didn't flame her.
It could be possible that you and the original poster may have adhesions
internally as a result of your surgery and that the act of sex is tugging
on those adhesions causing pain. Or don't I know what I am talking about
again, Kim?....JR

It could possibly be the problem you have with cysts on your ovaries. I
have cysts on my ovaries and have problems with pain with sex with deep
penetration and I have not had the surgery yet. You said you never had the
problem before, So it could be that you are losing weight and your husband
can now go deeper than he could before, therfore causing pain.

Definitely see your Gyn. With all of the hormone changes which can cause
awful changes everywhere. Also, I know the previous poster did not want to
be rude, but whenever you try to exclude someones opinions, it can be
hurtful. It is hard to keep men posting on this site and we need them
here. So no more exclusionary remarks to anyone please.

I'm with you John. Seems like a guy should be able to offer a different
view point without getting stepped on. Geese. ;)
