Question:
I'm having nausea every time I eat anything

Regardless of what I eat, how slow I eat, or how much I chew my food, I am getting nauseous and even occasionally throwing up. This has been going on for only 5 days. Previously I was the poster child for wls. I had Lap RNY 6 weeks ago today. I called my surgeon's office and the nurse talked to him without me even seeing him. Then she called me back and told me they were prescribing Prevacid for me. I am worried I have a stricture. Eating is already difficult because I am never hungry. Add the nausea to that and it's hard getting the motivation to eat. My mom says I should DEMAND to be seen by the doctor for further evaluation. I don't know what to do. I have to work with my doctor's people as I sometimes "float" from my office to theirs. We all work for the same hospital. I don't want to 'rock the boat'. I also went through a terrible stage of nausea at about 4 weeks out. If I moved, I felt very nauseous. I couldn't eat, could barely tolerate water. I was running a low grade fever. I got dehydrated and was hospitalized just for a night. I had the scope and no strictures. They started me on antibiotics and after day 3 the nausea and temp. went away. I must have had a little infection somewhere. Insist of having a scope, lots of people do get strictures and it's quite easy to fix. Unfortunately, sometimes you have to rock the boat. Remember to take care of yourself. Hope you're feeling better soon.

I am three months post op and I was getting sick EVERYTIME I at regarless of what it was. I called my doctor last week to ask him if this was something I was just going to have to live with and if it was normal. He said NO it was not normal and that it sounded to him like my pouch was producing to much acid. He prescribed to me protonix and I take it twice a day. Ever since I started taking it I have not been sick once. I am so mad at myself for not calling him sooner but I didnt want to be a complainer. It is like a miracle pill. It sounds to me like you have the same problem that I was having. Take the medicine (it is almost the same thing) and enjoy food without getting sick. Let me know how it works for you!!!
