Question:
Surgery date moved up due to gallbladder?

I am scheduled for a consult with my surgeon in May 03, but had gallbladder ultra sound today 2/18/03 which shows stones. Has anyone had their surgery consult or surgery date moved up sooner by their Dr. due to a bad gallbladder?    — Tina S. (posted on February 19, 2003)

Well I've had gallstones since 1998 and I was told to wait until the GBS to have the stones and gallbldder removed. Are you in pain due to the gallstones? That may be a consideration. My surgery is 03/11/03. When's yours?

My consult date is currently 5/6/03, which will put the WLS in Sept. 03 sometime I imagine. Yes I am having pain and can only eat a small amount of food right now, and if I'm out of the house on the road for work, I have to wait till I return home at night to eat. I don't dare eat in public as the pain and nausea hits almost instantly. It's too difficult to hide! My PCP is trying to get AETNA to approve an earlier consult - but the waiting plus the pain and nausea is beginning to be a real problem.
