Hi all! SuzAnne in Utah again. I'm so glad this question was posted because
I have one along the same lines! K, here's the deal. My hubbie and I are
hoping/planning on moving from Utah to Spokane, WA next summer (2004).
Honestly, I don't want to go :(. I grew up in Utah, and most of my family
is here. However, he is in the Air Force and was stationed at Fairchild a
number of years ago, and he fell in love with the area. He's been stationed
here at Hill for almost 8 years, and we know that he'll probably be
selected to move sometime in the next year or two. This being the case,
he's going to put in for BOP (Base of Preference), and list Spokane as his
#1 choice. I'm now 7 weeks post-op, LAP RNY. We have 4 kids, ages 20 months
to 9 years. I would really love to talk with some other people, ladies or
men, in Spokane! I guess I would just feel so much better moving there if I
knew someone! It's hard to pull up and move away from home, y'know???
Anyways, I'm 32, mommy of 4, military wife, and good cook :). If you'd like
to talk to me/email me, please do! Oh yeah, and when we do move up there,
I'll expect you to help us unpack LOL. Thanks AMOS people! You're the
best!!!

Darn, for some reason my answer isn't showing up! Anyhow, here goes again.
Dr. Lawrence Schrock is a general surgeon but has done a lot of RNYs. He
came highly recommended to me, even by my own PCP. He's out of Spokane,
WA. If you contact his office they'll be able to give you a name and phone
number of a lady who is involved in a support group for WLS in Spokane. I
spoke with both Dr. Schrock's office and the support group lady last year.
They were both friendly and helpful.

Dr. Schrock's support group has it's next meeting on the 9th of March. It
is the second Sunday of each month. There is also one on the 4th Saturday
of each month. I have not made it to that one yet. It is located in the
basement of the Good Samaritian Center at 12715 E Mission Ave. They begin
at 2:00. That is near the Valley General Hospital. Go to the East side of
the building and park towards the end of the parking lot. There is a set
of stairs that lead right down to the room. It is not marked, so just
wonder on in and make yourself at home. We are doing a protein supplement
tasting at the next meeting. If you want to contact me I would be happy to
meet you there. Robbin

I can't help you with the support group but I can tell you about my
surgeon. I had Dr Bright at the Rockwood Clinic. He is amazing, easy to
talk to and very understanding. We (his patients) call him Doogie Howser as
he looks like he is 15 but he is very intelligent, very sympathetic and
very straightforward. I had surgery 11/13/02 and just had my 3 month check
up. This man is a God I swear :).

Just an addition to my previous post. Although the support group was
started for Dr. Schrock's people, people from any and all Docs are welcome
and attend. Dr. Bright and Rawlins both have folks who attend these
meetings as well. I am with Rawlins/Bright and my mom is with Dr. Schrock.
