Question:
what to do when nothing goes down?
I had a revision 7 days ago from my origional RNY 14 month ago (long story about te revision) I had no problems in the begining last time, but this time every time i sip water or anything i burp, then some times i get the hick ups, then i throw up a thick foam. i can not eat anything yet, so i am thrying different liqueds and they all do this to me. what am i doing wrong this time? i am so thirsty! why is it so different this time around? i thought it would be so much easier since my first weight loss. please help! — nkoehler88 (posted on January 26, 2003)

Are you having any post nasal drip? That can throw you off and make you
hurl foam. How about jello? That's considered a liquid, and yet it's kind
of dense. I looked at your profile and you look fabulous!!! If you don't
mind me asking, why did you need a revision? Just curious!! :)

Have you talked to your surgeon's office about this? The foam could be
mucous. I had the same symptoms and after a week called the surgeon's
office. They were very concerned and ordered an endoscopy. When I had the
endoscopy done, they learned that my stoma (stomach opening to the
intestine) had closed almost completely. They dialated the stoma through
the endoscopy and I have been 100% better.
Donot put off getting this checked into--the nurse explained that
strictures do happen in about 10% of patients. Also the more vomitting
that occurs the easier for them to develop. Call your surgeon's office and
tell them your symptoms right away. You should not feel this way.

My sister is 1yr 1 1/2mo post op & she still gets the thick foam. Are
you on Zantac or any that type of liquid meds? My sister found that they
were causing her to be sick & once she stopped taking the med she felt
better. However every once in awhile she does have the foam, but once she
throws up, she is fine & can ususally finish eating. She could only do
warm/hot liquids. Have you tried that? HEr dr is aware of the foam, but she
doesn't have it constantly anymore, but she did at first.
