I'm 53, but a friend has surgery on Jan 2 in Flordia at the age of 65. She
has done really well and happy with her decision. Good luck to you.

Hi Mike, I am 59 and approaching 60. I used to wonder if at my age it was
worth it. IT IS. I know I will be better off after having the surgery. I
havae 8 grandkids and I intend to see all or at least most of the married.
I too have been overweight all my life and I see the day of my sugery,
which hasn't been set yet, as My Birthday. Good luck, enjoy your life.

I just turned 66 in December. I am in the process of getting approved. I
have had both knees replaced and have nine vertabraes in my back that are
shot. I believe I will be able to walk and not hurt as much on top of being
healthier if I have this surgery. The doctor I am trying for accepts
Medicare but you need five years of background which I will have no trouble
getting. They also will take precautions because of blood clot problems and
will not refuse me for my age as others have done. I am looking forward to
a healthier life, a little scared but it will be worth it.

Hi everyone, I had the open rny in Oct 2001, I turned 61 in Nov 2001, it
has changed my life in the most wonderful ways. I had the tt/hernia surgery
in June 2002, and somemore touchups and lipo 3 weeks ago. I know I wouldn't
have made it without wls, the Dr said I wouldn't have lived beyond 5 more
years. Both knees needed to be replaced, I had terrible gerds, high blood
pressure, depression, and had a previous heart attack that damaged the
bottom of my heart, I hate to think where I would be now. We have 11
grandchildren, and 4 married children, and my husband said he can't keep up
with me. I remember the nights when I would come home from work and hit the
couch or the bed for rest of the night. Now I want to be on the go all the
time. I don't want him to let me out at the door of somewhere's we go I
want to walk. I love all the energy, the wonderful choice of clothes I am
able to buy, the ease of getting in a booth when we go out and eat, and
just the wonderful feeling of knowing you are healthier and looking the
best we can. I can never thank my Dr's and everyone on the team that has
helped me reach my goals. God Bless each and everyone of you whereever you
are in this walk, Love Susie

Hi, I am 63 years old and had my surgery on Oct.9,2002 and I think it is
absolutely the best thing I've ever done for myself! My PCP agrees with me.
I do think the age slows down your weight loss, I appear to be a slow
loser. I started at 267 and am at 210. But if I judge it by my previous
life when did I ever lose 57 lbs in 16 weeks? So I am satisfied, I just
continue along drinking my water, and protein drinks feeling wonderful and
energized. My DH says I am getting younger and he is getting older!!
