Question:
Has anyone converted from a Mini Gastric Bypass to Roux En Y?
I had the MGB 11 months ago and am able to consume a lot of food, I am fearing my pouch was left too large or I've stretched it. I am told that RNY leaves much less pouch than MGB and wondering if anyone's experienced this? What is the first step? Endoscope? Upper GI? Thanks for your input! i was told that the difference between a mini rny and a rny was the size of
the incision with the regular rny i think the incision was something like
12 inches lond and my mini rny incision is only 3 inches long i dont think
it has any thing to do with the size of the pouch itself i know that my
doctor made my pouch 1 ounce to start what size it is now i have no idea
but i can say this i can eat more at times and sometimes i cant eat more
than 3 or 4 bits and i noticed that is happens in the evening time i had my
Mini RNY on 2/26/02 345/238/200 so far i have lost 107 pounds and it has
only been 10 1/2 months

There's a difference between the mini gastric bypass and a gastric bypass
done with a mini-incision. Latisha, it sounds like you've had the gastric
bypass with the mini-incision, not the 'mini-gastric bypass' itself, which
is an older surgery that few doctors do nowadays. I have heard that the MGB
can cause terrible reflux, but I'm sure it can be converted to a regular
RNY if you find a doc who is comfortable with revisions. Good luck!
