Not a whole lot. If it was denied for not being medically necessary, you
have the right to appeal. However, for a specific exclusion, there is not
much you can do.

Hi - I have an exclusion in my policy also . My ins. says I should have my
pcp to call and then write a letter to the pre-cert. dept . to try to get
an approval , there is a chance they might approve , but then again they
might not . I saw my pcp yesterday and she is going to write a killer
letter to the ins. and send me a copy . if it does not work , then I am
going to go talk to the vice president of my husbands work , he and the
president (owner) are the ones that can amend the exclusion . I have time ,
because I cannot get in to see the surgeon for a consult until May , so at
least I can get some of my ducks in a row , to try to be ready for the
doctor and hopefully a surgery date soon there after . good luck , just
call your ins. co. and ask what you can do to get the exclusion overturned

I am echoing Rachel....You have a loop hole there since it does not state
morbid obesity. My policy stated something very similar
and I was approved after only one try. No matter what, FIGHT! You deserve
this! Best of luck....Karen (lap rny- 9/20/02- down 98 pounds!)
