Question:
what if only part of my esophugus works can I still dump
several years ago when I found I had G.E.R.D. during the barrium swollow the tech said a part of my esophigus didnt have the paristolis to move the food down. I do take prevacid now for the past 6 years and I read it helps heal the damage. When I had the endoscope back then he didnt mention anything about it. My question is if I get a stricture or blockage will he food just fill up my throat and choke me? I do get neauseated, but have only threw up maybe 2 times in my life. I refuse to vomit, I swollow and swollow and take deep breaths. I am Pre-op, I thought about trying to make myself vomit, but the thought makes me sick(pun intended). Thanks any one else have a similar problem? — wizz46 (posted on January 13, 2003)

I don't have a direct answer to your question, I just wanted you to know
I'm right there with you about the "refusing to throw up" thing.
LOL! I WILL NOT puke. I've only puked about 5 times in my life. So far, I
haven't puked once since surgery on 12/11/02. YAY!! I hope you get a
"real" answer soon. :)

I had surgery 4 weeks ago and to be honest, when I feel like throwing up, I
go ahead and do it. It makes me feel sooo much better. Throwing up
post-op is NOTHING like throwing up pre-op. There is no acid taste and
it's over very fast.
