Question:
Given my beginning weight and age can I expect to go below 200 lbs?
If you are 55 yrs. old and had RNY 5/1/02 beginning weight 343, current 220 given the above should I expect to lose more weight. My only goal is for the first time in my adult life to go below 200 lbs. Margaret — margaret P. (posted on January 3, 2003)

You certainly can expect to weigh below 200 lbs. On January 17th 2002 I
weighted 347 and now on this date January 3rd 2003 I weigh 174 and I feel
like a millon dollars. It will happen! I haven't been below 200 in years.
Good luck and God Bless!

I was 57 when I had surgery and 360lbs. My surgery was 12/17/01 and on
12/17/02, I weighed 199lbs. Still losing every month with no plateas. You
can do it!

I was 55 when I had my RNY and weighed 346 pounds. That was 13 months ago
and I now weigh 185. I am waiting for insurance approval for my tummy tuck
and the doctor thinks I will lose another 20 -25 pounds with it. I had
lost 100 pounds at 5 months, 120 at six months and then went over two
months with no loss at all. Then Idropped 35 really fast and have been
struggling with the rest. I really have stopped now I think. My
surgeons's goal for me was 200 and then he dropped it to 190. He told me
today that he doesn't want me to lose any more before the next surgery.

Well, I went from 407 lbs. to 207 lbs. in less than two years. I still
have 17 more lbs. to goal, but I am getting pretty darn close, and still
lose about 1 lb. per month. YES, it's possible to get to goal, even if you
start out super-obese.
