Question:
Has anyone tried herbalife products?
I've heard Herbalife products are high protein, low carb. I was wondering if anyone ever tried them after surgery just for the health benifits. Vitamins, protein drinks etc. Any feedback is welcome + or -. — Janet D. (posted on December 19, 2002)

Just from personal experience pre-op, the herbalife is pricey and smells
ba. I could not stomach the smell or the taste of anything from them before
surgery. I definatly wouldn't be able to now. But if you decide to try it I
would ask for a sample of what it is you would like. They shold give it to
you to try if they want your sale. GL

Same here, pre-op experience with the herbalife products makes me ill. They
are expensive, taste not that great, I could hardly stomach the shakes, and
you have to contact someone that sells them to get them. I am sure they
would give you a sample if you wish to try them though.

The only thing that I have found that I like are the thermojetics Wildberry
and Peach-Mango protein drinks. They have a sweet taste (like kool-aid),
they are expensive, but these were the only protein drinks that I could
tolerate early into the surgery. Each drink has 15 gram of protein. You
should also try vitalady.com you can order several samples and it is
cheaper. Good luck on your search. (Open RNY 8/6/02 down 88 lbs.)

To each his own. But as for me, I never want any herbal life products
again! Back around 20 years ago I tried some of their weight loss
pills/vitamins. I never in my life pee'd and crapped so much. Plus all the
stomach cramps and nausua. I had problems for years after that mess. Then
last year a friend who knew I was looking for high protein shakes tried to
get me to buy some. I think they would have come to around $30 for one or
two of them. Geese, the protein level was around 11 or 12 grams! Heck you
can get that with a cup of milk (or at least close) which lead me to
believe there was'nt really any protein in the powder. It was only in the
milk that was added! Herbal Life, seems to be a bad choice in my opinion.

Herbalife has changed. They do have high protein, low carb versions- as
well as their original version. I have had it (the high protein version)
although it says mix with water- I mixed it with milk and I found it fine.
They also have two fruit drinks, to mix with water.... which are also
tolerable. I have not analyzed their supplements to see if they would work
for us...

I have a suggestion for the a protein replacement shake. I get the Vitamin
World "body builders" protein shake, It is very easy to digest,
and tastes great...Now for the really great part...FOR 1 Gallon of this dry
powder mix...it only costs 18.00... that makes over 200 shakes, it comes in
chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, you can mix the vanilla with any other
friut and have a great shake. This product is for "body
Builders" the protein is a very high quality as well. (better check
the "type" of protein many shakes use). You many not want
consume just any protein replacement. I think that is why some people get
sick, the quaility of the protein is poor. READ THE LABLE.
Vitamin world products can be ordered on line or in there stores nation
wide. There link is www.vitaminworld.com

I, too, have post traumatic disorder from drinking Herbal life products 20
years ago (the first diet my mother stuck me on). To this day, I gag when I
try to drink orange juice (its what was used to mix the protien - or
whatever fowl tasting stuff it was)!! I know this isnt much of a help, but
I think its comforting to others who suffer from long term "side
effects" lol Best of luck!!

I see other people's negative comments on Herbalife, but personally, it is
the ONLY protein drink I can handle (and I think I tried hundreds). I
believe that protein drinks are a very individual taste. Nobody seems to
agree 100% on any of them. You just have to try them for yourself. I mix
the Formula 1 with milk and the Wild Berry with water (like Kool-Aid). I
couldn't live without it now, and actually became a distributor so that I
can easily get my products and save in the meantime!!

I lived on herbalife following my surgery. The shake my Dr. promoted was
to think and way to sweet. I still use the high protien shake and now
supplement with the vitamins. Not everyone is the same and therfore you
will have to use the trial and error method to find something you like.
Again, I use the high protien shake but mix 3 tablespoons of powder with 1
cup of milk to get almost 30 gr of protien per shake. With my busy
mornings getting my family ready for school, it is the only way for me to
even come close to recommended protien for the day. Good Luck --Jennifer
