Question:
Hospital Robes ?
I've been in and out of hospitals, and for some reason they always have problems in getting me a robe that fit. I always put one frontwards and one backwards to cover everything. Only one time I got a robe to fit all of me didn't need two. And they had to search for that. — Naes Wls J. (posted on December 4, 2002)

The hospital johnnies/robes provided for my surgery were the largest I have
ever seen. They were actuall too big for me. Check with the hospital, but
most where WLS is performed are very sensitive to the needs and concerns of
their patients. (special beds, clothing and assistance) Good luck!

The hospital i was at was very good on supplying all the stuff i needed.
THe robes were HUGE! and if i didnt like the robe i had...i requested a
new one (the sholders were funky) I dont think you will have anything to
worry about! Just remind them if you have to.

Just in case - you may want to checkout 'Amplestuff.com'. They sell
hospital gowns from 3X - 10X for about $35. Sorry I dont have a phone
number for them. Their web site is a great resource for large people like
us!

The hospital I had surgery in had a complete bariatric program. They had
gowns up to 10X. The one they put me in could have wrapped around me 3
times!

If your surgeon operates regularly at this hospital then they should be
prepared. Ask your surgeons office and they can tell you. Usually these
surgeons set up to have larger gowns, wheel chairs and surgical equipment.
A large wheel chair is very important as well.

I'll agree with the others. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the
size of the johnnies. If your hospital does a lot of bariatric surgery,
they're very well equipped with extra large johnnies and special
equipment.
However, I STILL wore two johnnies to roam the halls. Mine was huge, way
too big for me, really, but only closed at the top and I didn't want to
take a chance of it flapping open!
