Question:
Anybody else have problems with chicken neck following WLS?
I know a lot of people have loose hanging belly skin, arm skin and thigh skin, but haven't heard anyone complain about baggy neck skin. I feel like a turkey with a wattle. The rest of me is ok (I won't be wearing no bikini anytime soon, but hey, I'm 50) so why does my neck look like a turtle's and what can I do about it, other than surgury? — Bobbi G. Bobbi, I feel your pain. I have everything possible that could be
tightened up done EXCEPT my face and neck. I have a waddle that stretches
from chin to collar bone and duct tape only temporarily holds it up
(kidding! don't try that at home!) The thing I focused on is that it
doesn't impair my functioning like all the other swinging flesh did. So I
truly put that in the catagory of "cosmetic" surgery and won't
have anything done about it. I claim every wrinkle on my face and my jowls
too. They are giving me character. Of course I am a mere 44 and God knows
WHAT I'll look like at 50!! I may change my mind by then and try something
other than a very tight ponytail to give my face a 'fresher' look...Good
Luck to you!

Hi Bobbi. I'm 51, 13 months post op and I also have the chicken neck. I'm
not happy with it but I'm not unhappy with it either. Like someene told
me, you don't have a wrinkle on your face! I said "yes, but look at
my neck...." and she said "well, that's okay." But I know
what it's from and I've already warned my 21 year old daughter. In all my
years of taking care of my face, I never brought the cleansing, toning,
mositurizing process down my throat and along my neck area. I'm paying for
it now. so all I could do is warn my daughter. Have you ever had a facial
lately? that's the number one thing they stress, is to take it down your
neck, throat, and actually down to right before your breast line. Who
knew? But all in all, my surgery has been a success and I'm learning to
accept my waddle.

At age 55 - I lost 106 lbs and face and especially neck had ps. People
said it took 10 years off and I feel it was worthwhile for me - but only
you should know what you want. I don't think "cosmetics" are the
work of the devil.

Bobby 50 certainly isn't too old to look great. A lower face lift wouldn't
be too awefully much and you'd feel a ton better about your neck area. I'm
30 and really disgusted with my double chin. I tend to store fat there
that isn't going away. I'm looking at that being a real option for me. I
NEVER thought I'd consider it, especially this young. Don't rule it out
until you really check into it. The results that some of these surgeon do
are awesome.

my freind has turkey neck syndrome too, and she is planning on having a
chin tuck as soon as she looses jus ta bit more! it weill cost about 2000 $
and be an out patient surgery! they cut your skin around your ears and pull
it up so the scars are almost nothing! once the skin is stretched out from
fat or what ever, it does not go back well, specially if the person is over
40! keep it well hydraded is about all you can do!
