Question:
Does anyone know of a surgeon around the Indianapolis, Indiana area?
I have been researching this procedure, and am very interested in having it done, but I am having some problems finding a surgeon. Thanks :) — kim E. (posted on November 22, 2002)

Kim: I had lap rny on 8/8/02, down 60 pounds, and I had Dr. Rosemaries
Jones, at Carmel, St. Vincent. I truly believe she is the best, for me
anyway. Very compassionate, very caring, and takes the time, as in
previous poster, call the Bariatric Center, you won't be sorry. Good luck.

Dr.Gerardo Gomez, he is at Wishard hospital in indianapolis, and is also
the head Trauma surgeon, for I.U. Medical center, and was also the first
surgeon to do laproscopy in indiana, and he is now offering LAP-BANB,
gastric banding. If you look under (find a doc,Indiana)it will open a page
for all Indiana surgeons, and you can view patients comments on all the
doctors. Good luck hope this helps, I'm very impressed with him. The
phone # is 317-630-7582, this is the trauma # and his office.

Hi, I am two months post-op and live in the Indy area. My doctor was also
doctor Gomez and he is great! As well as his staff. I started at St.
Vincents two years ago and didn't get anywhere. My consult with Dr. Gomez
was in June and the insurance approved me in August and I had surgery the
end of september. I had the Lap rny and I am down 40 pounds in just a
little over 8 weeks. But I would definately give them a call. The phone
number is 317-630-2524. Any other questions let me know. Good luck!

Hi Kim,
I started exploring WLS in July. Went to my PCP and talked. Found out
that I had a bunch of co-morbidities that had been snowballing. Went to a
seminar with Dr. Gomez. Great guy. He tells you bluntly what will happen,
what to expect, etc. He is compassionate, has a great staff, and wants
people to see this as a tool, not a quick fix. My surgery is scheduled for
Dec. 2nd. Good luck in your search.

complications and a wonderful staff. You can read my profile. Good Luck!

Kim, I've heard Dr. Gerardo Gomez!! I hear he is EXCELLENT and HIGHLY
SKILLED at Wishard Memorial Hospital there in Indy~~has a wonderful, caring
staff as well. From all I've heard, he sort of reminds me of one of the
surgeons (of the team) that performed my WLS-technical, blunt and to the
point. He tells it like it really is so that there leaves no room for
assumptions. I re-located to Atlanta, GA from Indianapolis (Naptown)
Indiana. By the way, contact my sister and maybe you can be an inspiration
to her about WLS. I think she's just scared. I believe you will be pleased!
Hope this helps! LAP RNY: 9/3/02 265/159/115-126 Hadiyah McCutcheon,
a.k.a.~~

I had mine done with Dr Crossin at WinLife through Winona Hospital, great
surgeon and great five year aftercare program. I was able to also have
surgery within two months of my initial consult. When I had surgery in
March they only did open but were starting lap in the next few weeks.
