Hi Amy, I also started at 303 and i'm 5'6. 30 pound is great CONGRATS! Everyday can be different. There are some days when i think i eat to much also. I'm almost 7 months and have lost 118 pounds. The only thing that i would be careful with is the bread. Just remember it is full of carbs (carbs= sugar=fat)and if you eat to much of it it can be difficult to digest. I was told to avoid bead because it just sits in your pouch. But like so many things every doctors say things different.Keep up the the good work and remeber how hard it was before the surgey to lose weight.

I had LAP-RNY on October 8th, so I am four days behind you. I have lost 31 lbs so far. Some days I can eat more than others but I find that soft stuff goes down faster and easier. I can eat much less of solids. Last nite, I was able to eat a grilled chicken breast (small) and a few bites of a baked potato and some apple sauce. Today I ate 1/2 a cup of cream of turkey soup and 1/2 an English Muffin and could not do more. Then I realized I must have eaten the English Muffin too fast and felt the pain for awhile. Stay with it!

6 pounds a week is slow? WOW... what were you expecting! Enjoy it.. it won't last.. and its great... congrats! If you think you're eating more than you should.. then probably you shouldn't... just because you can doesn't mean you should... I try (try is the real word here, because I don't succeed all the time) to eat till satisfied.. not to full. Eat your chicken.. and your egg.. and see how you feel before trying the carbs... good luck!

Be sure and measure what you are eating. Get some food scales or a measuring cup and have it handy. I had my surgery on Oct. 3rd and I've found that it is easy to overeat soft foods and soups. I've also found that if I stop eating at when I've had my limit and then just wait a few minutes I'll feel full. That was hard for me - learning to tell when I was full. So now I eat the amount my doctor told me to eat and I find that I'm satisfied. Don't get discouraged. If you think the weightloss is too slow drink more water and exercise more. Rev up your metabolism. Good Luck!

Amy, what is the size of your pouch? If you don't know, ask the surgeon. If you have a 2 oz pouch, then you are eating alot of food for 5 weeks post-op, but if you have a 6 oz pouch, then its not too much. Surgeons make all sizes. I was told that I was eating too much at about 3 months post-op by my surgeon. He said that I was eating until I filled the pouch and then I was filling up the esophagus too and to be careful as I could end up stretching the esophagus...so, I backed off and ate less. Now I try to eat until I am satisfied, and not full. And I eat more often. Small amounts every few hours.
