I have BC/BS and was very pleased with how quickly they approved me. Look in your coverage plan book or on their website for what they cover. My plan only covers the gastric bypass (RNY) which is what I had wanted anyway. They paid 90%. They will tell you that they don't preapprove covered surgeries anymore but that is not true. They will give your surgeons office a code for you. Best advice is to let your surgeons office handle the insurance thing unless you feel that they are not on top of it or are not doing a good job, in which case I would seriously doubt their other skills!
