I am about 10 weeks out and I have been eating cheese since week 4. I have
had all different kinds and I am fine with them all. The best is a stick
of string cheese. It is about 1 oz., (perfect size) and 7 grams of
protein. I eat it for breakfast alot.. :)

I LOVE Cheese and it LOVES me!!! I buy a bag of Land-O-Lakes prepackaged
3/4 oz. slices of monterey jack cheese and eat one with my breakfast every
morning. The 3/4 oz. slice is 82 calories, 7 grams of fat, 0 carbs and 5
grams of protein. The only reason I can think of cheese as being
considered "bad" would be because of its fat content but if you
eat it within reason (like everything else), I don't see any thing wrong
with it. :o)

I eat swiss and some string cheese once in awhile as a meal replacement.
It goes down alot better than meat. I also eat American cheese
occasionally but it bothers me so I don't eat it too often. I am 11 weeks
out from surgery.

I am a regular cheese eater, sometimes it helps too if I have an upset
stomach(don't know why that is). But I know many people stay away cause of
the fat content.

I have been eating cheese cubes since about 8 weeks post op. ( I'm 10
months now) It is a great source of protein. There's absolutely nothing
wrong with eating it. I used to eat them as a meal, now I will have a few
for a healthy snack.

I can tolerate about an ounce of cheese, maybe a little more, but then I
start to feel sick, especially if it's melted (don't undserstand that one).
I find that I've become lactose intolerant..I can't drink more than a
couple of ounces of milk either, or a 1/3 c of ice cream (gasp...yes I do
eat it...once in awhile ;) !!). That's the only reason I can think of why
folks may avoid it post. Problems with lactose. -Kim open RNY 7/17/01 -135

Cheese is a great source of protein for post ops. One of the first foods I
was able to eat post op was crackers with swiss cheese.

I am 4 weeks post-op today and chesse has been a great source of protein
for me. I tend to eat the "block" type cheese, cutting a small
sliver at a time. I also bought a back of those cheddar cubes which I keep
in the fridge at work. Those who don't eat cheese either are lactose
intolerent or their surgeons tell them not to. I have seen quite a few
members who were told that dairy is a no-no after surgery. Man,...I can't
imagine never eating cheese again!

Cheese is our friend. I have read that the harder the cheese, the higher
its protein content, but I don't know if it's true. Has anybody else heard
this?

I love cheese...but, cheese is very fattening and high in calories, my
nutrionist says 1oz per day is fine.

I eat cheese every single day. Sometimes I eat a slice or a few cubes,
sometimes it is melted on/in something. Once a week, I even have tiniest
bit of brie on crackers. It is my special treat.

As a new post op desparatly trying to eat (not drink) my protein I would
cut once ounce off a cheese block. Then I'd have an ounce (or two) every
hour or so. Between the meat meals, and cheese snacks I had an extremly
high blood protein that my surgeon was very happy about! LOVE THAT CHEESE.
(I think I may be part "mouse" lol)

I love cheese. I was sooo very disappointed when after surgery all cheese
tasted yucky to me. Turned sour in my mouth before I finished chewing it.
The only cheese I could enjoy still was mozarella string cheese. I now (3
months out) can enjoy extra-sharp cheddar, cottage cheese and cream cheese
and still live on moz sting lol.
