Question:
Has anyone qualified?
Has anyone qualified for surgery who is 5'6" and 230# with a few co-morbs. I am the above info. I have an approval from my insurance (Tricare Prime) for a consult. Just wondering if my chances are good for qualifying with the surgeon and tnen again with the insurance. Have all the diet (med supervised and not)stuff done as prooof af attempts.BMI is 35-36 — Jan S. (posted on October 10, 2002)

Hi, J., I was a little heavier than you, but I was 5' 6" and I weighed
258, but I had NO co morbidity problems, the Dr. thought that it might be
hard for me to qualify, but mine was a revision from a stomach stapling 17
years ago to a lap rny/ that probably helped me, I was approved with no
problem/ hope this helps/ I would think that with co-morbs it would
probably work for you/ Patti Meadows e-mail: [email protected]

Hi J,
I just was denied by Tricare Prime ~ I am 5'3" and 258 with no
documented co-morbs. To qualify you have to be: 100+ pounds over with
co-morbs OR, 200% of your ideal weight ~ since I did not have any
documented co-morbs I was denied on that account and since I was 190% of
the 200% over my ideal body weight they denied me there as well. Just make
sure your doctor documents ANY co-morbs you have.
