Does Kaiser Permanente for CA State Employees Exclude Adj Lap Band

Does anyone know if the Kaiser Permanente plan available to employees of the State of California has a weight loss surgery exclusion? And if so, has anyone been successful in getting this insurance to cover the Adjustable Lap Band surgery?    — Victoria Lani A. (posted on September 14, 2002)

I work for the State of California and have Kaiser insurance. I was approved for open RNY surgery. As far as I know, that is the only surgery that is approved so far. Kaiser in Southern California does not do its own surgery, but approves for Pacific Bariatrics and UCLA medical center.

Kaiser approves the open RNY and has just begun (here in so ca) to approve LAP surgeries- I have not heard of any adjustable band approvals and I am a Kaiser employee.
