Question:
Is there a tutorial on the internet where I can see/read about RNY surgery?
Also, can some of you give me a run down of what I might expect? Thanks. — Lindsey S. (posted on September 10, 2002)

Go to your favorite search engine and type in roux-en-y. You will get more
sites than you will have time to read. Many, many doctors or hospitals
have websites out there telling all about the surgery as well as what to
expect pre-op and post-op.

This is one of the websites I went to when I was researching the RNY
surgery: www.gastricbypass.com. This site is by the surgeons who did
Carnie Wilson's surgery. When you asked if someone could give you a
run-down of what you might expect, which aspect are you wondering about?
Pre-op? Surgery & Hospital? Post-op? If you can be a little more
specific, I would be glad to answer what I can.

Lindsey...Here is the website to the program @ Lenox Hill Hospital where I
had my surgery...They list the gastric bypass and several others all on one
site...It is pretty good. You maybe able to find info about all procedures
on one site. Good Luck.

When I was first looking into WLS, I went onto a search engine like yahoo
or google and put in many different things. Gastric bypass, weight loss
surgery, roux en y, and it will pull up tons of stuff. Then each website
will lead you to other websites. The best website I ahve found is this one.
Go on and look through the journey articles (www.obesityhelp.com) and then
go on and look through the different profiles. Read the Q&A questions
and look up other people's experiences. Read BOTH THE GOOD AND THE BAD! You
need to fully educate yourself on that you will be going through and that
includes the bad stuff, too. I am 15 days post-op and doing wonderful. If
you have any further questions, I have done a lot of research and may be
able to answer them. Please feel free to e-mail me!
