Question:
I have muscle aches in my calves and my back. Is this normal?
I have lap RNY on 8/29/02 and for the last four days I have been achy. Otherwise, I feel great. — Elizabeth S. (posted on September 10, 2002)

You might be getting low on potassium and/or magnesium. Try to mix up half
a banana or or some orange juice in your protein shakes or see if you can
get it in a supplement.
Good luck...

I have heard that it is caused from dehydration. I also heard that it is
caused from low potassium. Take your pick =). All I know is that I upped
my water and I eat a banana every once in awhile.... lo and behold.... leg
cramps be gone.... Good Luck!

I had my surgery on August 26th and I am having back and shoulder pains. I
have found the shoulder pains to come on when I am walking. Same with the
back pains normally. I have associated it with having to try tp support my
stomach too much. I try to keep my stomach from "jiggling" while
I am walking and I am overdoing it a little. This may not be the case you
are faced with, but I am just letting you know my scenario!

I get muscle cramps (charlie horses) in my calves if I don't drink milk for
a few days. My mom is a nurse and told me this may be caused by low
potassium. Milk is a good source and so are bannanas. I get some protien
when I drink milk so that helps out too!
