Question:
Was it this easy and complication free for anyone else???????
Surgery was 9/4/02. I was out of hospital after 36 hrs. No pain/no pain meds/no nausea. Doing the stairs at home. Walking at the beach. Shopping at the mall. (Had S-E-X two nights ago)Pre-op feet swelling is gone. Pre-op knee pain is gone. Our cat sleeps on my tummy. I can even sleep on my side. God is AWESOME. — Debby M. (posted on September 9, 2002)

Hi Debbie!! I had open rny on 8/26. The nurses told me I should be using
my pain pump. I didn't even feel the need. I was "sore" going
to & from the restroom, but I swear my c-section was 10 x's worse.
Pre-op I was nervous about the ng tube & the drainage tube--not a
problem. I never filled my pain meds when returning home. So far
everything has been smooth & unremarkable!!!

Debbie, I was just thinking the same thing. I had my lap RNY on 9/5/02 and
I feel fine. I really feel like I could go to work tomorrow. I'm not
going to, but I think I could. I also have very little pain and no nausea.
Ok, you've got me beat on the s-e-x, I'll wait until that drain hole
closes up, other than that I fell as lucky as you do. Congratulations.

I agree... I am a little over 3 years post op from an Open RNY/gallbladder
removal and I had a pretty cool time myself... I remember it like it was
yesterday... I have 3 words for you Debbie... YOU GO GIRL! :-)

I have also done very well. Surgery 8/20 lap RNY & didn't wait a week
for the SEX! LOL Just real careful. No nausea at all since surgery. Only 1
episode of pain & it was pretty much unexplainable. Everything I try to
eat is NO PROBLEM! Good luck! -23 lb's.

I completely agree. I did the same thing (including the sex). My drain
was still we just worked around it. It feels so good to try on clothes and
buy sexy nighties. I have had some nasuea but they were explainable and
preventable on my part. Good Luck.

YES!!! I was expecting the worst but got the best instead! I was not in
pain, stopped taking my pain meds almost immediately, could move around by
myself, used the toilet alone 24 hours after surgery and took a shower less
than 24 hours after surgery. AND I STARTED OUT OVER 400 LBS! I'm very
independant and did not want my husband to do everything for me! GOD IS
GREAT!!!!!

Funny, I thought it was only me! I had a really fast recover and now at 3
months post, I still have had no complications or problems (knock on wood).
Good for you!

Yep - me too. I had open RNY 4 months ago. After 3 days in the hospital I
was home and doing well on my own. I had S-E-X with my husband 5 days post
op - gut full of staples and all :)! I told my sister (who had her surgery
the same day I did) and she told me I was out of my tree! I was back to
work- full time- 8 days post op (I have a desk job).

Yes, I had Open RNY on 9/6, got home on 9/9 and have been feeling good. I
went out walking today. It was a lot easier than I expected. I give all
praises to God for He opened this door for me and granted me peace during
the process.

I had my surgery on 11/16/01...released from hospital on 11/19/01...was out
Christmas shopping on 11/20/01...no complications at all...unless you
consider the gall bladder going to heck not too long after---which I
suffered through until I got to goal so I could have a TT at the same time.
This surgery was a breeze...the TT was hell!!

You didn't mention what type of surgery you had..if it was lap it is easier
than someone who had open..I had open and was in a lot of pain for about
two weeks, then it gradually subsided day after day..I am 7 weeks or so out
and down 53lbs....started at 352 and am down to 299! I am at the gym and
doing normal everyday things...
