Question:
Will it be ok to travel on a 1 1/2hr flight one month post op?

I had the Lap RNY and flew a 3 hour flight three weeks after my surgery. It
went fine. I did bring extra bottled water with me on the flight which
helped.

You should get up and walk every 30 - 40 minutes. This is recommended under
normal conditions, so don't push your luck. Just remember to walk.

I had open RNY on May 3rd. On May 24th I took 2 1-hour flights to get to
my destination. I just made sure I had plenty of time in between flights.
I had no problems.

Hi,
I had open RNY on 7/22/02 and flew 2 hours home on 7/25/02. You should
have no problems that long after surgery.

Janine, you should do just fine. I would strongly suggest that you either
bring some water or ask for a bottle of it once you are on the plane. For
every hour you are in flight, you lose 1 pint of water from your body. Very
easy to get dehydrated.

The water idea is a very good one. Just make sure that the one you take
wiht you on the plane is sealed as you get on the plane. IF it is not, they
may make you dump it out!! The other suggestion I have is for you to get
out of your seat every 15 minutes or so to increase the circulation in your
legs. Blood clots are happening to people on planes trips and moving around
will help prevent that lots. Have good trip!!

Hello there!
I flew to have surgery with Dr. Balder in South Carolina from Hawaii. I had
surgery on Feb 5th 2002 and flew home three weeks later back to Hawaii. I
took my pain meds and slept the entire way. I drank lots of water on the
way back and felt no worse for wear by the time I got home.
