Cindee,
Hi, No I am sorry I haven't heard of him. But the top person in the field
of bariactic surgery is Dr Yasrebi in Jacksonville, Fla. He did mine.
Very glad he did. He's been doing it for 20+ years.

Cindee, I personally would be careful having a general surgeon doing this
surgery. Experience can make all the difference in the world as far as
complications go. I don't want to scare you but I really would look into
Dr. Yasrebi. I live in Ocala and had Dr. Jawad, who is very good and
experienced and I have heard many good things about Dr. Yasrebi as well.
You really want a surgeon who is familar with this complicated procedure.

It's not just about performing the surgery, it's about the follow-up care,
nutritional counseling, support groups, etc. Your surgeon should have all
of these in place.

I would check into a surgeon trained in Bariatric Surgery, not just a
General Surgeon. There are a few top notch surgeons in the area. Dr.
Yasrabi here in Jacksonville, and Dr. Thorburn (my surgeon) in Gainesville.
They are 2 of the best in Florida...the other is Dr. Marema in Miami.

Cindee---ignore this posting as I know your situation and you know
mine---this is for anyone who needs info on Dr. Sooriash first hand. No
one should listen to hearsay about the credentials of a surgeon without
first doing the research themselves. Dr. Sooriash is the surgeon my
insurance company sent me to here in JAX and I am scheduled for surgery
Sept. 4. 2002. I HAVE researched Dr. Sooriash's credentials, I have spoken
to post-op patients on whom he operated on, and I feel comfortable with
him. That is the key word - COMFORTABLE -. You have to be able to trust
the surgeon and know that he/she will do their best and give you the
greatest care possible. Dr. Sooriash only does two RNY's a week versus
some other surgeons that do ten or even more a week. To me, this means
that I will be getting more of his attention. I could go to Ocala or
Gainesville if I wanted to, but I feel that Dr. Sooriash is the best
surgeon for me. He does have guidelines to follow post-op and does refer
you to your PCP for follow-up bloodwork. Anyone who wants information
about him, please feel free to email me at [email protected] and I will be
happy to answer your questions.
Make sure you chose the surgeon that is right for you, and your needs.
Make sure you can trust him/her and make sure all your questions are
answered. Don't be afraid to call every other day with a new one!
