Jenna, I just had a scan to determine the size of the pouch and had to drink barium. I was pleasantly surprised to only have to drink a few ounces of it for them to see it on their screens. You may want to clarify this with the doc..

I just had a barium swallow over the weekend and only had to drink about half of what normal people have to drink. I would recheck with the radiology dept that is doing it or with your doc......good luck

I posted the question and just want to clarify that this isn't to check on my pouch. And I have to drink all of this at home before arriving to the hospital.

The liquid that you are required to drink for the CT Scan is not barium (sorry I don't remember the name. Barium is 100% than this sutff. You are right the CT stuff is worse than nasty. When I had my CT I called the radiology dept. and told them that I had gotten 1/2 of the container down and if they wanted anymore, I would throw it up. They let me slide with just what I had drank. They will work with you I am sure.

just a small tip - drink tons of fluid after your test and clean your system out. This stuff will plug you up otherwise and be very uncomfy!
