Question:
Why is this happening
I'm 5 months open rny post op and I have been eating a lot. I'm always hungry and don't know why... I never get sick or an upset stomach. It's hard to make myself stop eating. I have lost 112pds. I have not lost any in over a month. I work out 4-5 days a week. I'm afraid to tell my doctor this on Wednesday when I see him. I know he's going to tell me I need to controle myself with the eating, but I can't. I probably shouldn't of had this done. Please help. — Melissa S. (posted on May 11, 2002)

Are you sure you're eating too much? Try keeping track of exactly what
you're eating every day and see how many calories you're actually taking
in. You may be surprised at how little you are eating. 112 pounds in 5
months means you are doing something right.

Oh my gosh relax!!!!!
I agree that if you have lost 112 in five months you are doing something
right. What a tremendous achievement. We had this surgery to live a normal
life. Enjoy your normal life. Try tracking your progress on Fitday.com. It
will show you exactly what you are eating and what your not. Sometimes our
fears over take us without real grounds for worry. I think you are doing a
great job. Keep up the good work.

Hmmmm. Sounds to me like you may be eating a to high amount of
carbohydrates. At least when I do, it sets me off on an never stop eating
binge. Once I curb the carbs, I'm back in control. Perhaps look at the
types of foods you are eating. Man, I'd eat when I was stuffed and hurting
when under the control of those "triggers" the carbohydrates. If
you do have a carbohydrate problem, then read the "Carbohydrate
Addicts Book". It opened my eyes up to "my problem". Not all
of us have that problem, but I suspect a good many of us do. They also have
a web site at: http://www.carbohydrateaddicts.com/
Best of luck to you.

I noticed the same thing at 5 months. I wonder if it's due to the
increased exercise. I still lost a few pounds for that month (about 5) but
no where near what I had lost in previous months. This month, I've started
watching what I eat (still doing the same exercise plan) and I've already
lost 5 pounds. I truly believe that the exercising makes you hungry. If
that's the case, then you really want to watch your calorie intake if you
want to lose more weight.

I just reread your question. If you haven't lost anything in a month, it
means you lost 112 pounds in 4 months. That is tremendous. Your body is
probably trying to adjust to such rapid loss. I still think keeping track
of what you're eating is a good idea and the person who suggested using
www.fitday.com has a good idea also. However, give your body time to catch
up to the loss you've already had.

important. Good Luck. You're doing great!
