Try soaking the fish in milk overnight to take the fishy taste out of it.

I live on the Oregon coast and eat fish almost every day. It starts with the purchase. ASK which fish is the FRESHEST and buy only that fish. If it "smells fishy" then...it probably is not FRESH. I suppose it does help that I can just wander down to the docks and buy fresh off the boat!

As someone who isn't offended by fishy tasting things, I am not sure if this will help, but since I made these for my boyfriend and myself the other day, I thought I'd pass it on. Take one 14oz can of red salmon, mix in about 1 cup of instant oats, about 1/2 cup of minced onion, about 1/2 cup of fresh cut parsley, 1 egg and a dash of lemon juice. Mix thoroughly, until a mushy paste. Form into patties and bake on a cookie tray sprayed with PAM at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes (should be nicely brown on top). The other option is to fry the patties in olive oil, browning until crisp on both sides. Serve with a creamy mushroom p gravy, steamed asparagus and wild mushroom couscou. Needless to say, I got a GREAT backrub that night! Good Luck!

I hate fishy tasting things, too, but I am also trying to learn to like fish since I know it will be good after surgery. As as previous poster said, I have found that if you get them very fresh and cook them within a night or two of purchase, things like salmon and jumbo shrimp are hardly fishy. I am really learning to like them, actually, especially salmon with a little pesto sauce on top before you cook it. (Although I don't know if pesto will make you dump post-op.)
