Question:
Exercise ideas for putting on pound before weigh in.

I am right at 40.0 and am concerned about approval, what kind of exercises could I do for the next month to add musle mass and increase my weight? I don't want to just pig out, I'd rather add musle if possible. — Linda C. (posted on April 28, 2002)

Don't laugh, but the only exercise I did before my approval was eat Pizza and ice cream!! After I was approved and had my surgery date, I started walking as best I could with my bad knees. I was so scared of not being approved, I'd bought 4 rolls of those gold coin dollars to put in my bra. In the end, I started my period the night before the appointment and with the water weight I was well over BMI 40!

Dear Linda,
Muscle weighs more than fat, so I would recommend hitting the weight machines and starting to increase our protein intake. Bodybuilders eat almost exclusively protein, drink lots of water and lift, lift, lift.
Just be careful not to hurt yourself and I would recommend having a consultation with a trainer at your local gym at least once or twice so that he/she can explain all the machines and customize a workout plan for you.
I hope this helps,

Each roll of quarters weighs 1/2 of a pound and you can probably fit three in each cup of your bra under the breast. Line them up, one by armpit, one right under and one between boobs. Just make sure you don't jingle and won't be having an exam where you have to take your clothes off. Make your app't for later in the day and eat right before. Drink a lot of liquid and hold it until after you weigh in. All this should add up to about 8-10 lbs.

Eat chinese food (with MSG) the day before your weigh-in. Also, tell your surgeon that you are one inch shorter than your reallly are (and slump if s/he actually measures you). You'll be amazed how much that can increase your BMI!
